Gujjars to protest in North East soon
May 31st, 2008 | Category:Cities News, India News, National News, States NewsAs protests of the Gujjars, who are demanding ST status, spread to fresh areas, the community living in the North-East will also take up the cudgels & launch an agitation in support of the cause. A representative of the Gujjar said, “Rajasthan Government has betrayed the Gujjars. In spite of the protests, both the Rajasthan Government & the Centre have been indifferent so far”.
Representatives of the community from the entire region met in Guwahati on Friday to chalk out a programme to join the protests. While the Gujjars of the North East resolved to form an apex organization of the community in a day or two, the community has also sought permission from the Assam & Meghalaya government to allow them to stage peaceful demonstrations.
