Gudi Padwa celebrating throughout Maharashtra
Maharashtrians are celebrating Gudi Padwa on Sunday. It is the first day of the Marathi calendar & marks the beginning of spring. Many believed that this is the day Brahma created the world. Women work on intricate “rangolis” at their doorsteps & homes decorated with flowers, coconuts & mango leaves.
It is auspicious to buy gold on Gudi Padwa. But with gold prices touching the sky, sales have dropped by almost 30 per cent. Gold prices have shot up from Rs 9,000 per 10 gm last year to a whopping Rs 12,000 rupees this year.
The sale of gold during Gudi Padwa has been 30 per cent lower than last year. Everyone is waiting for the prices to go down. It’s difficult but you have to buy but it is auspicious to buy gold.
