Goa govt. suspended forensic expert in Scarlett case
Government of Goa on Tuesday suspended a forensic expert Dr Silvano Sapeco who had conducted the first autopsy on Scarlett Keeling & later had given the final opinion suggesting she was murdered.
The government suspended him on the charge of making “irresponsible” media statements which hampered the investigation into Scarlett Keeling’s death case. The forensic expert attached to state owned Goa Medical College & Hospital had in his final opinion talked about the possibility that the girl’s head must have been pushed into the sea water for five to ten minutes, which caused her death.
Dr Sapeco had come under cloud right after February 18 when he did not comment on the bruises found on the body of 15 years old Scarlett Keeling who was found on Anjuna beach in Goa.
Fiona Mackeown, Scarlett’s mother, had expressed dissatisfaction with the police investigation which was based on the first autopsy & pressing for the second autopsy. She accused the police of cover-up in the probe into her daughter’s death.
