Goa govt hands over Scarlett murder case to CBI
Apr 2nd, 2008 | Category:Breaking News, Cities News, India News, National News, States NewsThe Goa government on Wednesday formally decided to seek a CBI probe into the death of British teenager Scarlett Keeling. A senior official of Police said, “The state government has given its nod for the transfer of the case to the CBI. All the formalities in this regard will be completed in the next couple of days”.
The official said that the government will be completing the paperwork in the next day or two after which the central agency will formally take over the case. The state Chief Minister had last week given into pressure after hesitating to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Earlier, the state government had expressed its willingness to hand over the case to CBI, but had not taken the final stand on the issue. The official said, “It is decided now. Previously it was just willingness to transfer”.
Scarlett Keeling 15 years old British girl was found dead on Goa’s popular Anjuna beach on February 18. Two people have so far been arrested in connection with the case- Barman Samson d`Souza & drug dealer Placido Carvalho.
