Pune: The Pune Police has received a fax threatening 40 explosions around the city, Saakaltimes reported. The fax received by the Police at 12.30 pm was, “This is to inform you that we are going to do 40 blasts at about 2.30 pm. The blast would be near or in banks, station & colleges. Save as many people as you can. We have planted the bomb. Good Luck to Pune. Good Bye”. Subsequently, the Pune Police swung in to action leaving no stone unturned with a large-scale security checks implemented all over the city. A senior official of Police said, “This is done by an unidentified person & we are probing it. Some people get sadistic pleasure in such things & citizens should not pay heed to this rumor mongering”.
The search operations were conducted in all prominent places in the city that included stations, malls, bus stops & hotels. Prominent locations such as the Aurora towers in Camp & the International Convention Center (ICC) at Senapati Bapat Road were thoroughly checked by the Bomb Detection & Disposal Squad (BDDS). The chilling fax was traced from Yuvraj General Stores, a small shop located in Ganesh Peth. The police are interrogating with the owner & are working on the descriptions given by him. The owner of the shop stated to the police that the man aged about 25 came to his store. He wore a lining half shirt & a grey color pant with black shoes. He had a saffron tilak on his forehead.
