Explosion in chemical unit in Tarapur MIDC killed 2
Mar 30th, 2008 | Category:Breaking News, India News, National NewsAn explosion occured in a chemical unit in Tarapur MIDC in Maharashtra, in which two workers were killed & seven received burn injuries.
An official of Police said on Sunday that the explosion took place in the production section of Sterling Pvt Ltd, a company which manufactures chemicals, in the industrial estate in the western part of Thane district.
The incident occurred around 1.00 am & two workers who received more than 70 per cent burns, died at the spot. The deceased have been identified as S B Sawant 42 years old & Jaihind Tiwari 34 years old.
Seven injured workers have been admitted to the TMR hospital. The condition of some of them is stated to be serious. The Boisar police have registered a case of accidental death & are investigating further.
