Ex-MP Atiq Ahmed arrested in Delhi

Ex-Lok Sabha MP Atiq Ahmed from Phoolpur in Allahabad, who was escaping from arrest for the past six months in a murder case of an MLA in UP, was arrested by the Delhi police in New Delhi on Thursday. Senior police officials said today that a special cell of Delhi police arrested Atiq Ahmed on Thursday evening from an apartment in Preetampura in west Delhi.
He was on the run & he was carrying a reward of Rs 20,000.
Ahmed was handed over to the Uttar Pradesh police on transit remand with a direction to produce him before an Allahabad court within two days. The state police have secured a non-bailable warrant against him in connection with the case. A number of cases including murder, attempt to murder & kidnapping were registered against Atiq Ahmed.
