Encounter Specialist “Rajbir Singh” murdered in Gurgaon
Rajbir Singh, ACP of Delhi Police special Operations Squad on Monday night was shot dead by a propery dealer on the city outskirts. The “encounter specialist” was murdered in Gurgaon.
A senior official of Gurgaon Police said that the shooting is believed to have taken place around 10:30 pm & they were informed about the incident by their counterparts in Gurgaon around Monday midnight. The official said that the property dealer was shot dead Singh over some monetary dispute.
The official said, “We have arrested Vijay Bhardwaj for murdering Rajbir Singh. Rajbir was alone at Bhardwaj’s office on Mehrauli-Gurgaon road when he was shot dead. The weapon used in the crime has been recovered but we are not sure about the number of gunshots fired on Rajbir Singh”.
Vijay Bhardwaj confessed to killing Rajbir Singh& said, “Rajbir Singh was pressurising me to give money & had threatened to kill me. I failed to arrange the money so I killed him”. Rajbir Singh’s body has been sent for post-mortem.
The ACP was shunted out of DP crime branch and returned in November last year to head its special anti-terror cell.
The Additional Commissioner of Police was transferred from the crime branch to Delhi Armed Police after allegations of his involvement in an illegal land deal last year. The vigilance probe however gave him a clean chit & he returned to head the Special Operations Squad in November last year.
