Dinesh Mittal has been arrested by the Special Cell team of the Delhi Police on Sunday night for plotting the murder of his brother-in-law, Arun Gupta. He has confessed to giving a “supari” of Rs 10 lakh to get Gupta eliminated.

Police said two young property dealers from Delhi had been arrested in connection with the murder, but did not divulge their names. Dinesh had allegedly contacted these two property dealers to get rid of his brother-in-law.

The two property dealers, who come from western UP, apparently got in touch with three contract killers to carry out the killing. They are being questioned now for more leads into the case.

Earlier investigations had revealed that Mr. Gupta was involved in a longstanding property dispute with his in-laws.
Even though his mother-in-law was on his side, Mr. Gupta & his brothers-in-law were involved in a long legal battle over sharing of the property left behind by his late father-in-law M. L. Mittal. The police found that Dinesh was unhappy with Mr. Gupta’s alleged move to persuade his mother-in-law to transfer fix-deposits worth crores in his name.

During interrogation, the two suspects disclosed that they were given about Rs.5 lakh as advance for the work. At their instance, the police are trying to recover the weapon that was used to kill Mr. Gupta. The duo would be produced in a court on Monday.

Arun Gupta was on his way to his shop at Bhagirath Place when he was shot dead by three assailants in broad daylight on April 7.
