Now the Congress is aheading swiftly to win back the dalit constituency. On Friday the party will celebrate Rahul Gandhi’s birthday nationally as ‘samrasta diwas’. On this big day the Congressmen across states will be visiting the dalit households for community lunch.

This idea has been quickly metamorphosised from UP to a national stage. UPCC chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi recently announced that Congress party workers in UP would celebrate Rahul’s birthday with `sahbhoj’ with SCs.

Now, just a day before Gandhi’s birthday, `samrasta’ appeared to have caught the imagination of party strategists. The AICC is adopting it as the model to celebrate June 19 across states.

General secretary incharge of UP of Congress, Digvijay Singh, will be visiting a dalit village in Baghpat in the morning.

This move of the Congress is politically loaded. The party is moving in swiftly to win over SCs.
