Communal groups clashed in Nashik, many injured
Jun 13th, 2008 | Category:Breaking News, Cities News, India News, National News, States NewsTension prevailed in Bagwan Pura locality in the old Nashik city on Friday afternoon, after two groups belonging to different sects clashed & pelted stones on a worship place. A mob had set afire about seven to eight vehicles & also involved in stone pelting, injuring scores of people.
The police team led by city commissioner Himanshu Roy on reaching the spot resorted to firing in the air to disperse the clashing groups. Trouble started when an unidentified mob started pelting stones from a building’s terrace at some people, who were returning from a mosque after offering Friday prayer. However, the situation was brought under control.
