Chief Minister of Meghalaya D D Lapang resigns
D D Lapang the Chief Minister of Meghalaya resigned on Wednesday. He resigned just before the trust vote in the assembly, saying his government was unable to muster a majority.
An official said, “Congress could not get the requisite support, so the CLP decided to resign”. He said he was going to Governor S S Siddhu to submit his resignation.
He said on speaking about the rival Meghalaya Progressive Alliance, “It is a bundle of contradictions and will last three months. The Congress will be back”. NCP leader P A Sangma said the MPA would meet at noon & stake claim to form the new government.
