Cases against M F Hussain dismissed

M F Hussain a painter has got relief from the Delhi High court in three cases that had earlier been filed against him in local courts. The cases against him were filed in Indore, Rajkot & Pandharpur.

M F Hussain had been accused of outraging religious sentiments, promoting enmity between two religious groups, selling obscene material & disturbing national integrity. It was his Nude paintings of Hindu gods & goddesses as well as Bharat Mata that created a furor resulting in several threats from right wing Hindu groups like VHP, Shiv Sena, Bajrangdal & the Hindu Jan Jagriti Samiti.

Hussain, 92 years old has been living virtually in exile in Dubai since 2006, following a series of threats & several court cases that were filed against him. Cases were all transferred to Delhi late last year as per Supreme Court directive.
