The amendments include alteration in Lokpal removal provision and also on the establishment of Lokayuktas. The center had accorded with the states that they are free to set up Lokayuktas on their own.

The key points that will probably be discussed in today’s meeting are – the appointment of the Director of Central Bureau of Investigation still stays with the central government as well as the appointment of the head of Lokpal also stays with the central government.

On Wednesday, the government told that they wanted to get this bill passed in both Lok Sabha and in Rajya Sabha and they are attempting to get all the political parties on board for that. V. Narayansamy, the Minister of State in PMO, told PTI (Press Trust of India) that one thing they would like to make very clear is that Congress and its allies do not have sufficient numbers in the Rajya Sabha. They have to carry all political parties along and they are working in that direction. Government is attempting to bring the Bill in the later part of the session. He also expected that the differences of opinions with other political parties will soon be sorted out.
