UPA partners Congress and TMC will lock horns in the upcoming Manipur Assembly polls. Both parties will field candidates in the north-eastern state’s polls. Reports suggest that TMC will contest in 47 seats, whereas Congress will give candidates on all the seats.
At present, TMC have only one MLA, Sarat Singh, in Manipur. Last year, he won the by-election for Konthoujam seat.
According to the reports, Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal will campaign in this small north-eastern state, but the dates have not yet been finalized.
The tensed relation between TMC and Congress may take another step ahead when both parties start campaigning for the elections. The relation between these two UPA allies has not been sweet in recent months. Recently Mamata Banerjee stated that Congress is free to leave the alliance and even tagged them as the ‘B’ party of CPI(M).
