Bomb Blast on Flyover in Srinagar
A powerful explosion on Wednesday hit a busy area near jahangir Hotel in Srinagar in which 1 killed & 8 injured & shattering window panes of a number of vehicles. The explosion in the crowded Exhibition Crossing which is close to the Jammu & Kashmir High Court complex in the heart of the Srinagar took place in the evening.
This is the first major blast triggered by militants in Srinagar after several months. It damaged a flyover under which it was set off.
Police said that 8 were injured & the wind shields of several vehicles smashed in the blast, but it was not clear whether it was triggered by an improvised explosive device or an explosive-laden vehicle parked under the flyover. The injured have been rushed to hospital. Police is investigating the matter.
