Blast in Meghalaya temple injured 4
Jun 11th, 2008 | Category:Breaking News, Cities News, India News, National News, States NewsAt least four persons have been injured in an explosion at a Durga Temple at Nartiang in Meghalaya’s Jaintia Hills district. It is one of the oldest Durga Temple of Eastern India. Mukesh Kumar Superintendent of Police has said, “The explosion took place late last night, leaving one son & three daughters of the priest critically injured”. The 500 years old temple which is one of most revered temples in the region was intact. He said that the bomb was purportedly targeted the priest’s residence close to the temple. Don Sumer, the prime suspect behind the blast has been arrested.
He is suspected to have triggered the blast out of grudge against the priest. The suspect had reportedly threatened the priest yesterday with dire consequences. The police are investigating the explosive materials used. They have also recovered some fuse wires from the temple premises.
