Blast in Chhattisgarh killed three
May 9th, 2008 | Category:Breaking News, Cities News, India News, National News, States NewsMaoist guerrillas exploded a land mine in a forested stretch in Chhattisgarh’s southern Bastar region in which three policemen, including a platoon commander, have been killed on Thursday. The incident took place near Chindgarh village in Kanker district, some 310 km south of Raipur.
A senior official of Police said that the platoon commander of the Chhattisgarh Armed Forces (CAF) Mahulal, an assistant sub-inspector & a constable were killed on the spot when the mine went off. The explosion occurred when an 11-member road opening police unit passed over the landmine.
The official further said in his statement, “It was a planned attack by the Maoists who trapped the police team. A massive reinforcement has fanned out all over the forested areas around the attack site to track down the insurgents”.
