“Bharat Bandh” affect many states today

The nationwide strike called by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to protest spiraling food prices hit life in Assam Friday with shops & businesses remaining closed & traffic going off the roads in many parts.
A spokesperson of BJP said, “The strike is total across the country with people spontaneously supporting the strike call”. He said, “Many schools have announced holiday today. Attendance in most government offices was thin”.
Assam was most affected in “Bharat Bandh” but the countrywide protest failed to evoke response in Haryana, Patiala, Punjab & Chandigarh.
In Rajkot, extending their support to the bandh, business establishments & local traders downed their shutters.
