Australia will not release documents related to Haneef case
May 9th, 2008 | Category:Breaking News, India News, National News, World NewsAustralian authorities have refused to release the documents related to the bungled case of Mohamed Haneef an Indian doctor who was wrongly accused of having terror links in 2007 failed Glasgow airport attack.
The Immigration Department of Australia, which blocked the release of large numbers of documents relating to Haneef’s case under Freedom of Information, rejected any possibility of releasing them.
Haneef’s lawyers have asked the court to overturn the Immigration Department’s decision that is said to jeopardise further investigations & discourage bureaucrats from giving frank advice to ministers.
The Indian doctor Mohamed Haneef was charged with recklessly helping a terrorist organisation after his SIM card was allegedly found with a cousin linked to the failed UK car bombings last year.
