Eminent painter Manjit Bawa passed away in New Delhi early Monday after a prolonged illness. He was 67 years old. Bawa, well-known for the vibrant use of colours in his paintings, was in coma following a brain haemorrhage three years ago. He was survived by his daughter & son.
Born in Dhuri in Punjab in 1941, Bawa studied at the College of Art in New Delhi. He obtained a diploma in silk screen printing from the London School of Printing, Essex. From 1967 to 1971 he worked in London as a silk screen printer.
