25th June, 2012, New Delhi: In a huge breakthrough, the Delhi police’s special cell has caught Abu Hamza, the plotter of 26/11 Mumbai attacks, at the Indira Gandhi International airport.
The thirty year old suspect Hamza alias Zabi Ansari alias Sayed Zabiuddin alias Riyasat Ali alias Abu Jindal was caught on 21st June when he was coming back from a Gulf country. Security agencies were looking for this suspect for over 3 years. Hamza, who is allegedly a Lashkar-e-Toiba member, has also been linked with Indian Mujahideen. He was the tutor of Hindi to the terrorists that executed the Mumbai attack in 26th November, 2008.
According to sources, he was taken to the court that remanded him to fifteen day police custody. He also had an Interpol Red Corner notice against him. In that he was charged of criminal activities including the use of explosives and weapons. His involvement was also expressed by Ajmal Kasab, the only terrorist caught during the 26/11 attack.
The arrest of Abu Hamza is being considered as a major breakthrough and it is likely to fortify the 26/11 case. The suspect hails from Beed district, Maharashtra.
