300 arrested for blocking rail movement during Bengal bandh
Around 300 people have been arrested by the Railway Police on Friday for blocking train movement in different parts of West Bengal during the 12-hour bandh called by Trinamool Congress to protest the fuel price hike.
Train services were disrupted in both Eastern & Southern Eastern Railways due to blockades, forcing cancellation of 21 trains & rescheduling of 17 others. Nine trains were short terminated by the South Eastern Railway. The agitators stalled train movement by either throwing banana leaves on overhead traction, sitting on the tracks or placing boulders. The arrests were mostly made from Howrah division.
