Varun Gandhi walked out of the Etah jail at around 1830 hrs IST to a tumultuous welcome from BJP party supporters. Maneka Gandhi, Varun’s mother and BJP leader was there to receive him. Just after Varun’s release, both of them left for Agra in a car.

Earlier today, the apex court ordered Varun’s “forthwith release” for just 2 weeks to enable Varun Gandhi to file his nomination for Pilibhit Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh and also to campaign for the polls.

Getting the good news of her son, Maneka Gandhi, rushed to Etah from neighbouring Aonla constituency where she was campaigning for herself. Maneka Gandhi has represented Pilibhit in the Lok Sabha earlier for five times. Maneka Gandhi is also a former central minister.
She ushered inside the Etah jail premises along with her personal aide.

Outside the jail party workers waited and tried to keep up the tempo by intermittently raising slogans of “Varun Gandhi Zindabad” and also “Maneka Gandhi Zindabad.
