23rd August, 2013, Washington DC: United States have expressed their concerns over the recent violence along the India – Pakistan Line of Control. However, they stated that they have not changed their policy on Kashmir and it is for India and Pakistan to fix the cross-border dialogue.
Jen Psaki, the State Department spokesperson, told, “We remain concerned about the violence along the Line of Control. We understand that the governments of India and Pakistan are in contact. We continue to encourage further dialogue,”
“As you know, our policy on Kashmir has not changed. We still believe that the pace, scope, and character of India and Pakistan’s dialogue is for those two countries to determine,” added Jen Psaki.
She further added that the present situation has not reached a point which could have an effect on Afghanistan. United States expect India and Pakistan to engage in dialogues and they also believe that both countries have important roles to play in Afghanistan.
