Shrine in Jammu and Kashmir catches fire

25th June, 2012, Srinagar: Today, the government of Jammu and Kashmir ordered for an investigation into Dastageer Sahib fire incident.shrine picture

While speaking to journalists, Ali Mohammad Sagar, the Law Minister told that the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir will hold an investigation into this incident and pass on the report within few days to the government. He also added that the probe officer will also look into the reason for the blaze as well as the events that took place after that. He appealed to the people that they must cooperate with the government and maintain peace in the region. The reconstruction of the shrine will begin soon.

On Monday morning, the two-hundred years old Sufi shrine caught fire. Fire tenders have rushed to the place to the place to douse the fire. Protesters and police involved in a clash after the incident. The protesters stated that the firefighters came late on the spot and that is the reason why the fire spread around the shrine which is mostly made of woods.
