6th July, 2012, New Delhi: Pranab Mukherjee, the Crongress presidential candidate will meet the Congress MLA’s and MP’s of Uttarakhand and Crongress’ allies on 10th July to get support for the presidential election which is scheduled to take place on 19th July.
In Uttarakhand, Congress has six MPs, including five members of Lok Sabha. In the state assembly, the party has thirty-two MLAs having a good strength of 69. Apart from that, MLAs from other parties, who are Congress’ coalition partners, have already extended their support for Pranab Mukherjee, the former finance minister.
There are three BSP MLAs, three Independents and one UKD (Uttarakhand Kranti Dal) MLA. Rajiv Maharshi, the Congress spokesperson, told that they have invited Trivendra Singh Panwar (UKD President), Surajmal (state chief of BSP), independent MLAs and the the MLAs of their party for the meeting with Pranab Mukherjee.
