13th July, 2012, Guwahati: On Monday night, a teenage girl was molested, slapped, beaten up and pulled by her hair by a group of around 20 young man. The incident took place at the Christian Basti in Guwahati.
According to reports, the teenage girl was coming back to home from a city bar where she had a party. A video footage caused a huge uproar on the net and people have started reacting to it. After watching the footage, the state police have identified twelve men, but till now they have only arrested 4 of them.
While speaking to a news channel, Jayanto N Chaudhary, the DGP of Assam told that they would take action against the accused persons. He added that the girl went there to celebrate her friend’s birthday and she had a fight. After that the bar staffs asked them to leave as they were making rumpus. When she came out of the bar, a group of people assaulted her.
The National Commission for Woman’s chairperson Mamta Sharma told that they would take strict action and she would also want the government to note this kind of issues.
