Mayawati orders CBI probe into CD case; BJP cries foul

BJP released the case of communally sensitive CD allegedly ahead of assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday returned to haunt the saffron party president Rajnath Singh and seven other leaders with Chief Minister Mayawati ordering a CBI probe into the matter. Mayawati told DailyNewsRepoters in Lucknow that “In view of the sensitivity of the matter and the possibility of involvement of many senior bjp leaders in it, the government has decided to recommend a CBI inquiry into the case”. A complaint had been lodged with the election commission that a CD had been released by BJP, which contained matters, the Chief Minister said. Mayavati said an FIR had been registered in the matter on the direction of the election commission on April 6, 2007 by district police. Mayawati said that During investigation of the matter it came to light that there was a possibility of involvement of many senior BJP leaders in the matter. “In order to ensure that no one could accuse the BSP government of political vendetta and keeping in view the sensitivity of the matter, the government has decided to recommend a CBI inquiry in it’, Mayawati said.
