Reports suggest that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will be consulted since it is an important diplomatic issue. By today, a motion is expected on the matter. The Ministry of External Affairs’ advice will also be sought on this issue.

What has been making the delay is the denial by ship crew of Enrica Lexie to be interrogated. The crew members of the Italian ship were waiting for a team of Italian diplomats to arrive in New Delhi and advice them about their next step.

According to sources, the Italian crew members insist that India can’t take any legal action as they were in international sea territory when the event happened.

The Indian authorities reveal that the ship’s action was reckless in opening fire. It violated anti-piracy protocols. A case of murder has been registered against the 6 armed guards.

Regional Commander of Coast Guard Region stated that if it has happened or about to happen, they are supposed to tell the concerned authority, but the HQ did nor receive any report.
