Fugitive mafia don who started his criminal career in 1984, got into business of railway tenders, liquor, coal, scrap & real estate has been handed over to Delhi Police. A team of officers from special cell nabbed him in Bhubaneshwar today.

Brijesh had been evalding arrest for the past 20 years, forcing the UP Police to increase the reward money for his arrest RS 2 Lakh to RS 5 Lakh last year. He was living under a fake identity of Arun Kumar Singh in Bhubaneshwar.

City court Wednesday 6 february remanded Uttar Pradesh mafia don Brijesh Singh in police custody till Feb 21 for his role in the 1992 shooting inside a hospital here, in which two people were killed. Singh, who was brought here from Delhi Tuesday night, was produced before sessions court judge T.U. Mulla. Delhi Police arrested him Jan 21 from Bhubaneshwar in Orissa.

In a case related to extortion & threats by Brijesh, the team, led by Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, ACP, worked for almost two years to prinpot his whereabouts. The team travelled extensively in UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bangal, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chatisgarh, Orrisa & Mumbai on his trail. The Lady Luck smiles on the team in the second weak of January when they ecieved a tipoff that Brijesh was shuttling b/w Kolakata & Bhubaneshwar to settle his business deals. The special cell also managed to proceue his latest photograph. The gangster was tracked down to Big Bazar in Bhubhneshwar today where he arrived in his black Honda CRV (No. OR-02-AK-1800). On identification he was immediately surrounded & overpowered with utmost difficulty as the gangster offered still resistance. Brijesh was considered the prized sharp shooter of International Don Dawood Ibrahim.
