Couple puts kidneys up for sale to save son

At a time where an international kidney sale racket of Delhi is the headlines of all news channel, the poverty-striken parents of a son suffering from blood cancer in Bihar say they are willing to sell their kidneys to raise money for his treatment. To save their son (Sunni) the parents of Sunni, Amarjit Rai and his wife, residents of Shahpurpatori in Samastipur district, about 100 km from Patna, are desperate to sell their kidneys. They require Rs 2.5 lakh for his treatment. To sell his kidney for money, Amarjit Rai left his native village with his wife and son last week to the state capital.

Amarjit Rai said that,”Our kidneys are up for sale, but we will not sell them below Rs 2.5 lakh,”. Amarjit Rai was working as a
rickshaw-puller in Delhi till last year to earn a livelihood for his family. Rai’s son Sunni was admitted to the children’s ward of the Sadar Hospital in Samastipur on Monday for treatment and doctors assured him their help. Amarjit Rai said that,”They promised to arrange for a medical loan of Rs 25,000 for initial treatment. But it will not meet the cost of treating blood cancer”-DailyNewsReport.
