Chidambaram Remarks India United In Combating Internal Security Challenges

New Delhi, Feb. 07 — Home Minister P Chidambaram said that in fighting internal security challenges, irrespective of political affiliations, all governments are “on the same page”. He said after a meeting with the chief ministers on Sunday.

He told to the media, “Not a single discordant note emerged in the conference. The whole nation is responding in the spirit of unity. It is in itself a big achievement… a message to all those who challenge India’s internal security.”

Chidambaram also added while briefing to the reporters, “All states and union territories, irrespective of political parties of their administrative heads, are on the same page.”

He said that the CMs of those states which are Maoist insurgency-affected have endorsed the initiative of the central government to fight leftwing extremism.

Home Minister’s remarks came as two CMs of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruled states, Raman Singh of Chhattisgarh and Narendra Modi of Gujarat, praised the approach of central government in fighting leftwing terrorism in India.
