CBI to produce kidney kingpin in court
Feb 10th, 2008 | Category:Delhi News, India NewsThe CBI will produce Dr. Amit Kumar, the alleged kingpin of the kidney transplant racket in a Delhi court on Sunday. It will ask for further custody so that Amit Kumar can be questioned in detail. A CBI team had brought Dr Amit to Delhi from Kathmandu on Saturday. Dr. Amit Kumar is likely to be charged under several sections, including violation of the Human Organ Transplant Act. The CBI will also be looking into the money laundering aspect of the case. Dr Amit Kumar is alleged to be the mastermind in an international racket where innocent people, often from poorer sections, had their kidneys removed &then sold to those who needed a kidney transplant.
