BSNL Employees holding a strike
Jan 22nd, 2008 | Category:India NewsEmployees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited BSNL had decided to go on an indefinite strike from February 26 protesting against disinvestment . The BSNL employees joint forum said this after staging a protest against government’s proposal to disinvest the company on Monday. The demonstrations were held in Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and other cities, joint forum of BSNL unions/associations of non-executives and executives said in a statement.

Minister of telecom had said that the government was considering an initial public offer for the BSNL last week. However, after two days the ministry had issued a statement saying that there was no immediate plan for an IPO for BSNL.
