Mumbai, May 03 — The lone surviving gunmen of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks Ajmal Amir Kasab was pronounced guilty on Monday by a special Mumbai court. Faheem Ansari and Sabauddin Ahmed, who were also accused for conspiring the attacks was acquitted by the court.
The arguments for sentencing of Kasab will start tomorrow.
Ten trained armed terrorists descended in Mumbai on a ‘Fidayeen’ (suicide) mission in 2008 and wreaked havoc during the 60-hour siege in which 166 people were killed and many others were wounded.
The trial of the lone surviving terrorist Kasab is perhaps the fastest in a terror case in India and was commenced on May 8 in a special court set up at Arthur Road Jail. The court recorded 3,192 pages of evidence. There were 658 witnesses in the trial and it took only 271 working days to complete.
In the court of judge M L Tahaliyani, thirty witnesses identified Ajmal Kasab as the man who had opened fire at them.
