ATS Arrested Two For Plotting Attack On ONGC

Mumbai, March 14 — Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested on Sunday two persons for allegedly planning to set ONGC establishments on fire said police.

Police added, Riyaz Ali (23) and Abdul Latif Rashid (29) have been arrested from the city.

According to ATS officer, “The two were preparing to set one of the ONGC establishments in the city on fire following instructions from someone called ‘Uncle’.” Officer also said, “We are probing if the directions had come from across the border”.

Local court had granted police custody to both the terror suspects till March 18.

Both the suspect had conducted a recce of the Nhava-Sheva area of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) in south-east Mumbai.

The official said several maps of the area were recovered from them. The two are also suspected of having links with international terror outfits.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trus is one of the most sensitive installations in Mumbai and it is hardly few kilometres away from Colaba.

On 26 Nov, 2008 Colaba was the landing point of ten Pakistani terrorists who attacked Mumbai.
