A recent research at the University of Athens finds out that sipping a hot cup of coffee every day could give long life by warding off heart disease.

According to Daily Mail, the study says that a cup of coffee daily improves elasticity of the arteries. The research was based on analysis of 485 people having high blood pressure.
The study was led by Dr Christina Chrysohoou. She says that there were conflicting evidence of coffee on the health of the heart.
She said, “But drinking coffee is a deeply embedded social tradition in Greek culture which made it imperative to probe on this island of ‘high life-expectancy.”
The arteries, according to the study, were assessed for distensibility — or elasticity. The study found that 56 percent of people had best arterial health who drinks one or two cups of coffee a day.
Those who drinks three or more cups of coffee a day had the least elasticity.
Dr Chrysohoou suggested that caffeine and antioxidants type of ingredients may partly improve arterial function. These ingredients increase the ability to take up nitric oxide that is impaired in hypertensive patients.
