Culling of birds in Nadia, West Bengal from tomorrow
After reports of deaths of birds due to bird flu disease in Nadia district, the authorities on Saturday decided to cull chicken in some villages in Ranaghat area of the district.
An official said that the culling will begin on Sunday as samples of dead chicken from the area tested positive for H5N1 virus.
Measures to contain the spread of bird flu to other areas had been taken. Nadia was among the 16 out of 19 districts in the state affected by bird Flu in January. Nearly 40 lakh chicken were culled till February 5 then.
