In India the number of cases of swine flu is on an increase. It has now climbed up to 17 as of now. The Union health ministry has fwarned of a spurt in number of cases after the monsoon.
Naresh Dayal, the health secretary said, “They say that the H1N1 group of viruses proliferate more when the weather is slightly cooler.”
He also added that the flu is not proliferating too much because of the high temperature here. However, he mentioned that after the monsoon there is a chance that it can come again.
The current case of swine flu is of one-and-a-half-year old boy who has been tested positive a day after his six-year-old sister tested the same. Both of them have come to India with their parents from New York on June 10.
The sister-brother duo has been accompanied by their grandfather in the hospital. He has been given anti-viral drugs and has tested negative for H1N1 virus.
The other members have also been tested and their samples have been sent to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) for tests.
