14th July, 2012, Washington: According to some this the best place to keep yourself updated, and for some it is boring, but whatever the opinions or the views are - Wikipedia is still going strong and most importantly the site has already turned ten.
The site, which is a free as well as open source online encyclopedia, started in the year 2001 and since then almost everything remained unchanged. Now it seems that this popular website needs to improve especially when people are turning their attention towards social mediums like Twitter and Facebook.
Over the previous week, the ‘Wiki’ community and the several hundred members of the popular website gathered at an event called ‘Wikimania’, in Washington to discuss how the site could be improved.
A member of ‘Wiki’ community told that now it seems like that the site is ten years old. There are a whole lot of difficulties and hurdles with site, unlike Twitter or Facebook, especially when it comes to upload videos or pictures. Some members think that the site needs to be improved from users perspective as the user interface is old.
Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia, told that he is not the boss of the site; instead the members are the true bosses. He also added that the future of the site will be worked out collaboratively, just like the website functions.
