20th August, 2012, Los Angeles: On Sunday, Tony Scott, the ‘Top Gun’ director died after jumping from a LA County Bridge. Lt. Joe Bale of LA County Coroner told that the 68 year old director’s death was a suicide case.
Tim Nordquist of Los Angeles police told that at around 12.30 pm, several people dialed 911 and told that a person has humped from Vincent Thomas Bridge. He added that after few hours, a dive team with the LA Port Police took the body out from the water. Later his body was handed to the office of the county coroner.
During the investigation, one side of the bridge was closed. A US Coast Guard official told that a suicide note has been recovered from the Scott’s vehicle which he parked on one lane of the Vincent Thomas Bridge.
The British born director was the brother of well known director and producer Ridley Scott, whose ‘Prometheus’ was a huge summer blockbuster. Tony Scott and Ridley Scott ran Scott Free Productions and both of them were working on a movie ‘Killing Lincoln’, based on Bill O’Reilly’s best seller.
Apart from ‘Top Gun’, Scott had also directed several other blockbusters such as ‘Beverly Hills Cop II,’ ‘Crimson Tide,’ ‘True Romance,’ and ‘Days of Thunder’.
