Jodha-Akbar
A group of the Rajput community opposing the story described “Jodha Akbar” has said that they will not allow the film’s screening in Rajasthan until Ashutosh Gowarikar the director of film apolgises to the community. They have demanded that Gowarikar should change the script deleting portions of “distorted historical facts” from it.
Karni Sena patron Lokendra Kalvi said, “We will not allow screening of “Jodhaa Akbar” till the makers of the film submits a public apology for hurting the sentiments of the Rajputs”. “He must be ready to change the film’s script”, kalvi added.
Lokendra Kalvi said, “None of Akbar’s 34 wives had the name, surname, nick name, or alias of Jodhaa… How could one change it now”.

As much as the public sentiments of the Rajputs and other concerned communities must be respected, I would like to make note that historic distortions are not necessarily considered ‘distortions’, as they may also be regarded as historiography, or the different forms of perceiving history. To add to that, I would like to inform, if this form of channel allows, the individuals and communities that are concerned over the name ‘Jodha’ and her particular reference in terms of historical accuracy that she was officially known as Hira Kunwari, the Princess, who later became the Queen.
