18th July, 2012, Mumbai: Veteran actor Rajesh Khanna passed away at his home in Mumbai, today. According to reports, the last rites will be performed tomorrow morning. Khanna, 69, was suffering from cancer.
Last week after reports of low blood pressure, he was admitted to Lilavati hospital in Mumbai. But he was discharged from hospital to his Mumbai residence just yesterday. Earlier on 24th June, the veteran actor was admitted to hospital due to kidney problems. He was also hospitalized in April also.
Around three weeks ago, it was reported that Rajesh Khanna has stopped eating. But later his son-in-law, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, told that he is just more than fine. The veteran actor himself came out on his balcony; even though he was visibly weak, but still he waved at his fans that were waiting to catch a glimpse of him.
During 70s and early 80s, he was considered as the top Bollywood actor. He was really the star of dramas and romantic comedies such as Kati Patanag, Aradhana and Anand. He grabbed 3 Filmfare awards in his film career. From 1992 to 1996, he also held a seat in the Lok Sabha as a Congressman.
