The Supreme Court Of India on Thursday refused to stay Sahid-Sonam Kapoor starrer “Mausam”, dismissing the copyright claim of a production house over the film’s title. High Definition Television Private Ltd (HDTPL) has asked the apex court to stay the release of the movie saying that 10 years ago it had acquired the rights to the title of the film. In its petition, HDTPL said that it had registered the title with Association of Motion Pictures and Television Programme Producers (AMPTPP).

HDPTL had earlier approached the Bombay High Court, but the court had refused to entertain the petition. Mausam is written and directed by Pankaj Kapoor under Vistaar Religare Film Fund Banner. The film stars Sahid Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Manoj Pahwa, Anupam Kher, Pankaj Kapoor, Atul Gajbhiye and Praful Gajbhiye. Mausam’s album has received positive reviews and one needs to wait and watch as to how the film fares at the box office.
