Mumbai, Feb. 17 — Bollywood actor Aamir Khan resigns from a panel to discuss amendments to the Copyright Act formed by the government. Aamir says, he was “disillusioned and sad” by the reports being flooded in media that he claimed showed him in a bad light.

On Tuesday there were reports on two Mumbai tabloids that during a meeting of the committee Aamir Khan and writer Javed Akhtar had a heated altercation.
According to The Mumbai Mirror, Javed Akhtar took exception to the suggestion of Aamir Khan that much contribution is not made by lyricists to the impact of a song. However, Aamir Khan had said these reports in the media were false.
Khan, 44, said in a letter to Kapil Sibal, “I feel I have a lot to contribute to the ongoing debate but I cannot make any meaningful contribution in this atmosphere.” A copy of the letter was also circulated to the media.
Khan said, “Aggression of this type leaves me feeling very disillusioned and sad and I am unable to function.”
The committee was formed by Kapil Sibal, Human Resource Development Minister.
The committee was officially released on Sunday and Aamir Khan, Javed Akhtar and filmmaker Ramesh Sippy were among the named members of the committee.
