HYDERABAD/ NEW DELHI, India: The government announced late night of the creation of new state from the part of southern Andhra Pradesh state. He said that the process of forming Telangana state will start soon.

This announcement rocked the Rajya Sabha twice Thursday. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused Home Minister P Chidambaram of breaching of propriety by making a public announcement on this issue when the parliament was in session.
Chidambaram said there were no option left but to make the announcement on Wednesday night.
He said, “When he (M. Venkaiah Nadu of the BJP) raised the issue in the House yesterday (Wednesday), the government was not in a position to respond as consultations were still underway. When the consultations were completed very late at night, we couldn’t brook any delay (in making the announcement).”
Seventy Andhra Pradesh assembly members are resigning in this protest and observers say it could lead to a political crisis.
The demand for making a separate Telangana state for the underdeveloped and deought-prone region dates back fifty years.
K Chandrasekara Rao of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) was on fast in demand of a separate state. He broke his fast after the public announcement was made.
