Jaipur, Feb. 7 – Pink city Jaipur is always considered as a peaceful and serene city of India. However, today the city rose from a new reality – 5 suicides in past 36 hours. In another incident a missing girl reportedly left behind a note saying she would never be seen alive again.

The shocking incident happened in the areas such as like Sodala, Shyam Nagar, Jhotwara, Jawahar Circle and Karni Vihar. The suicide committed by two young students, a namkeen seller, a widow whose husband died recently of swine flu and a retired policeman who reportedly suffered from pain in his legs.

A student of MGP School in Vidhyadhar Nagar, Shivangi attempted suicide in her school when she swallowed acid. She is in critical condition and admitted to SMS hospital. Police are doing their investigation. Another incident happened when a 20-year-old girl, Neha Jaat, completing her bachelor in commerce from Mahatma Jyoti Rao Phoole College, attempted suicide by consuming poison in her room. She died in the hospital.

“She was found unconscious by her mother around noon on Friday. Her younger brother, an engineering student, and her father who works with a government insurance company were not at home,” said an officer of Shyam Nagar police station. She left no suicide note and reason of suicide is still unknown.

In another case, 23-year-old Shaili Shankhala, who was studying at a private college and working part-time with a private company in the city, was found dead in her house on Friday night.

“The family members claimed that it was a case of food poisoning but preliminary investigations revealed that she had consumed some poison. The matter is being investigated,” said Baburam, investigation officer of the case.

Another three incidents were Rakesh Kumar, 19 years old young boy committed suicide by jumping in front of moving train. Anita Sharma, a young widow ended her life by consuming poison and a 62 years old retired sub inspector, Rajesh Lal committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling at his house. He left a suicide in which he stated he ended his life because he could no longer bear the pain his legs.
