2nd August, 2012, Pune: The probe into the 4 low intensity blasts which rocked Pune has started on Thursday morning. The investigators are examining to determine the source of explosives applied in the blast. Forensic team has visited all the sites and they are trying to find out the detonators used in the bombs and they are also examining the 5th bomb which was defused.
Today at 6.30 am, a team of NBDC (National Bomb Data Centre) visited the blast scene at Jangli Maharaj road. The team picked up explosive samples which went off outside the McDonald’s restaurant. According to sources, the preliminary investigation suggests that the explosives had ammonia as well as a sticky substance.
After the team of National Bomb Data Centre left, police picked up dustbins and bicycles in an investigation van. According to police, these things are a part of the evidence. The blast intensity was very low that event the bicycles did not fall on the ground. Only one person was injured in the blast. His name is Dayanand Patil. The whole Jangli Maharaj area, which is a plush area in Pune, was cordoned till morning.
Police thinks that at least 3 persons have played the role in planting the bombs outside Bal Gandharva theatre, City shoes shop, Dena Bank and McDonald’s restaurant. Police also assumes that the purpose was to create panic in general public.
