Delhi Awarded 22 Crore for Street-Scaping Works to Host Commonwealth Games

New Delhi, Feb.01- To beautify the capital city for hosting Commonwealth Games, the state government declared a proposal of Rs 22 crore for street-scaping works on Jagannath Marg and Lodi Road.

The proposal was brought in an Expenditure Finance Committee meeting headed by Delhi finance minister A.K. Walia.

Municipal Corporation of Delhi will be taking charge of street-scaping works of roads around venues, Walia said to reporters after the meeting today. And an amount of Rs. 21.95 crore has been sanctioned for it, on which Jagannath Marg and Lodi Road will cost Rs 3.40 crore and Rs 18.55 crore respectively.

“The agencies concerned have been asked to implement all basic ingredients of the project with due care and commitment as the facilities to be developed would become a permanent feature in the Capital,” Walia said.

To welcome the international guests, Delhi is decorating its surroundings. The places around Nehru Stadium, Thyagraj Stadium, RK Khanna Lawn Tennis Stadium, Dr. Karni Singh Stadium, Siri Fort Sports Complex, Yamuna Sports Complex and Ring Road also will be under the list to do maintenance, Walia informed.
